There are some beautiful places that are a little beyond Les Gets, but definitely worth a visit. We don’t want you to miss out if you don’t have a car while you’re here, so we offer excursions to two of our favourite places.
Sixt Fer a Cheval
Setting off in the morning at 10.30, we take you over a mountain pass that offers spectacular views of Mont Blanc, in time for a coffee at the beautiful village of Sixt (see picture on the right).
From here we explore what the area has to offer: The Fer a Cheval, or ‘horseshoe’ is an incredible area of mountains which rise rapidly out of the valley. From this aspect you look up at the dozens of small waterfalls which make their way down the cliffs. The whole expanse curves around you, hence ‘horseshoe’, and there is a lovely walk along the foothills of the mountains, and in the valley.
If we still have time, we can spend the remainder of the afternoon at the lake in Samoens, part of an activity centre which also boasts a driving range where you hit balls into the lake, tennis courts, a play-ground and swimming pool. We are back in the chalet at 16.30. €20pp for 1-3 people, an additional €10pp for larger groups.
Lake Montriond
This lake has to be one of the most beautiful in the Alps (see picture above). We will drive you to the quieter part of the lake with the best views at 11.30, and put on a picnic feast for you while you relax by the calm waters, walk around the circumference, canoe, swim or soak up the views from the cafe. We are back in the chalet at 16.00. €20pp for 1-3 people, an additional €10pp for larger groups.
