Local attractions
There are plenty of places to visit in the local area, all less than 30 mins drive from Les Gets. Lac Montriond, just a 15 minute drive away, is stunning and offers activities such as kayaking and fishing (see pic on right). Slightly further away is the ancient mountain goat village of Les Lindarets which is a beautiful spot to take a picnic and view the spectacular mountain scenery. Also worth a visit are the abbey ruins at St-Jean-d’Aulps and the well-preserved abbey at Abondance. The stunning national park of Sixt-Fer-à-Cheval near Samoëns, with it’s beautiful cascading waterfalls, is only 45 minutes away.

Lakes and towns
If you feel like travelling further afield, Switzerland and Lake Geneva, with the beautiful towns of Evian, Thonon les Bains and the ancient walled town of Yvoire (see pic on the right) are just over an hour away. Another town well worth a visit is Annecy (see picture above). With its canals and vibrantly painted houses it is often referred to as the ‘Venice of France’. Lake Annecy is a fantastic setting and also offers wakeboarding, waterskiing and sailing.

Mont Blanc
Take the world’s highest cable car to the aiguille-du-midi from Chamonix, only an hour’s drive away. At 3842m you can enjoy spectacular views (see pic on the right) and a fantastic though challenging walk over the glacier should you wish. A funicular railway takes you back to Chamonix.

Aquapark
For a great family day out, try the aquapark in the Chablais region of Switzerland, approximately 1 hour’s drive away. There is a great atmosphere and with plenty of flumes, slides and rides you will find everything you wish for from a water park!
