Why a mountain holiday?

The mountains, and the Alps in particular, are stunning in the summer months, and offer one of the best family summer holiday destinations in Europe: There are so many activities that can be enjoyed by the whole family, like whitewater rafting, mountain biking, lake swimming and walking. Not only can everyone enjoy spending time together, but Mum even gets a rest from the cooking, as our summer holidays include catered accommodation in our lovely summer chalet.

Our summer chalet

Located in the pretty Old Town of Les Gets, you are never far from the pleasant buzz of village life or the lifts which take bikers and walkers alike to the top of the mountain. The chalet sleeps 13 people in total in 5 fully ensuite bedrooms. There is a large and airy open plan living/ dining area which has sunny balconies on 2 sides, and provides the perfect place to watch the sun set with a glass of wine in hand while we prepare for you a delicious 3-course evening meal.

Les Gets in the summertime

Those who ski in the area during winter will be familiar with the friendly locals, stunning scenery and quaint shopping streets, though in the summer Les Gets takes on a very different atmosphere. In summer Les Gets bursts with colour – flowers grow on every street corner – and bustles with life, but the sunshine and warmth give the village a laid back and relaxing feel which often gets lost in the busy winter months. Les Gets has live music events in the town square throughout the summer months, there are often tables of giant wooden boardgames in the streets for children to enjoy, and every other year there is a colourful festival of music where hand organs and alphorns line the streets and stop the traffic!

Les Gets and surrounds

For those wishing to explore a little of what the Alps has to offer, we definitely recommend a car. While there is plenty to do within easy reach by foot or local bus, the flexibility that your own transport offers is a definitel plus: You can stay as long as you like at the jaw-droppingly beautiful Lake Montriond, visit Sixt Fer a Cheval and the breath taking scenery and waterfalls in that area (40 mins drive), take in the Col de Joux Plane and some of the most beautiful views of snow-covered Mt Blanc, or even drive the 1.5 hours to Annecy and find out for yourself why the call it the Venice of France. Alternatively, we do offer excursions to all these places, so either way you won’t miss out on the must-see places in and around Les Gets.
